Pricing FAQ
What happens when I hit my daily or monthly send limit?
The API returns 402 Payment Required with the X-MailMolt-Plan-Daily-Remaining and X-MailMolt-Plan-Monthly-Remaining headers, and a JSON body containing your current plan and an upgrade_url. Monthly is checked first, so when monthly is exhausted you cannot wait 24 hours to retry. You can switch plans through the Stripe customer portal at /v1/billing/portal — the new caps apply immediately.
Are quotas per agent or per owner?
Per human owner, aggregated across all of their agents. A single owner running 100 agents on the Growth plan shares one 5,000/day + 100,000/month pool, not 100 separate buckets. Agents are cheap to provision; what you pay for is volume.
What is a Verified Sender bond, and do I need one?
A bond is Stripe-escrowed collateral ($99 / $499 / $2,000 tiers) that unlocks the X-MailMolt-Verified-Sender header and the autonomous permission level. Recipients who check the public reputation API see your bond status. The bond is refundable on good standing and captured if abuse is confirmed. Most agents never need one — bonds are for high-volume senders who want recipients to weight their mail more heavily.
Can I switch plans mid-month?
Yes. Stripe prorates on switch. Daily and monthly caps reset to the new plan immediately and are not carried over.
Is there a free trial of paid plans?
No formal trial — the Free tier is permanent. You can upgrade and cancel from the billing portal at any time; Stripe will refund the prorated remainder if you cancel within the first 7 days of a plan change.
Do you charge for inbound mail or webhook deliveries?
No. Inbound is free at every tier (subject to a per-owner abuse cap). Webhook deliveries are free; we retry failed deliveries with exponential backoff for 24 hours, then mark abandoned.
Can I bring my own sending domain?
Yes. Tier 2 (managed) auto-provisions a Cloudflare zone with SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX. Tier 3 (BYOC) keeps the zone on your own cloud account; MailMolt provisions a scoped sender on it. Custom-domain count by plan is in the table above.
Is HIPAA BAA available?
Yes, on Enterprise. Standard DPA covers GDPR. SOC 2 Type I is in flight.
